Grilled Cheese and Caramelized Brussels Sprouts
Every time I visit City Tavern (usually for brunch), I always tell myself I'm going to order something different...but I never do. This might be one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches you've ever eaten. Between two slices of buttery, crispy, crunchy sourdough bread is the ooiest, gooiest, slightly spicy, pepper-flavored pimento cheese. It oozes out with every bit you take and has the best cheddar flavor. And although the brussels sprouts are rather greasy, the sweet maple glaze and bits of salty pancetta never disappoint.

Veggie Combo with Fish
I've always had to be "in the mood" for Ethiopian...but after eating at Lalibela, I think I'll be eating it more frequently. This was my first Ethiopian meal in probably five years, and it was such a great return! Every single thing on the platter was amazing, my favorites probably being the simple romaine and tomato salad and the red lentils. And the fish...perfectly fried and crispy on the outside, steaming hot and tender on the inside. The seasoning was sparse, but a fresh squeeze of lime juice over the fish completely changed that. This whole platter can easily feed two people, and lots of fresh injera comes on the side.

The Classic with Chicken
My friend dragged me here on the late night, after I'd told her several times that I wasn't a huge fan of ramen (yeah yeah). I don't know if it was the fact that it was 1 a.m., it was raining, and we'd just left a night of drinking and dancing, but this big bowl of Japanese-style chicken noodle soup definitely hit the spot. The broth was super savory without being too salty, and the chicken had a delicious smoky grilled flavor. Spinach and green onions added some freshness, and even the egg was great, soaking in all of that creamy tonkotsu. What's even better is the price and the fact that it comes out about 10 minutes after you order.
